"We protect and promote agricultural, community and environmental sustainability on the north coast of NSW, by promoting and coordinating noxious, agricultural and environmental weed awareness and control in the community at large."

Our Objectives


The objectives of the Committee are:

  • 2.2.1 To promote awareness of noxious and environmental weeds within the community.
  • 2.2.2 To advise the NSW Noxious Weeds Advisory Committee on weed matters relating to declaration, control and promotion for the Region
  • 2.2.3 To recommend weed policy, declaration, control and promotion to member organisations
  • 2.2.4 To promote a positive approach to those people and organisations that are interested in noxious and environmental weeds.
  • 2.2.5 To educate, train and encourage persons and organisations in all matters relating to noxious and environmental weeds and their control.
  • 2.2.6 To promote effective and efficient coordination of weed control programs and promote resource sharing.
  • 2.2.7 To develop strategies and action plans for weeds of major regional significance

Where we are


 

The North Coast Weeds Advisory Committe covers NSW coastal areas from Nambucca Shire to the Queensland border.

Local Weed Control Authorities (LCAs) are responsible for administering, promoting, enforcing and in some areas implementing the Noxious Weeds Act. In the northern part of the region Far North Coast Weeds is the LCA whilst Local Councils act as LCAs in the south of the region. Local Councils throughout the region are involved in various forms of weed management.
